Thursday June 6 – At Sea

Our world trip is divided into four sections, and the first section finished in Dubai with 200 people leaving the ship and another 200 boarding for this leg of the cruise.  We now have some Chinese people on board and they are coming to dancing class. Today we learnt the New Vogue dance, The Merengue.  We have Jody as our new dancing teacher as Josh and Fiona disembarked in Dubai after 9 months on the Sea Princess.

Now, all you squash players out there, beware of the new Bill Healy when he returns.  He is working on improving his footwork and to do this he is practising line dancing each day.  He is quite amusing to watch but he is improving.  He can put left foot over right foot while moving to the left or right and vice versa.  He can do a grape vine and a box step.  Sometimes when we are taught new foot movements, I look across to see him waving his hands in the air as if he Is hitting a ball with his racquet.  I think he will be a force to contend with on the squash court next season.

Jody is also Bill’s new choir teacher.  Today they practised just  one song, When I’m 64.  The words to this song she changed as most of the choir had already reached this age, so they are now singing ”When I’m 94”.  We do have a man on board who is 100.  He is quite spritely and gets around with just a walking stick.  No walking frame or wheel chair for him.  He is quite an inspiration.

We set sail for Aqaba in Jordan last night at 10 pm.  Just a gentle roll of the ship to lull us to sleep.  We are now 7 hours behind Melbourne time as the ship changed to Aqaba time tonight.
