It was a beautiful clear day with no
wind so many people spent the time on deck, sitting in the sun, swimming,
reading or walking. We saw a write up in
the paper about the rescue the other night.
The three Americans we saved were most impressed with the cheers given
by the Australians as they boarded our ship.
It was another formal night tonight and
the singers and dancers were meant to give another of their fine
performances. However, Rachel, the
female singer was ill so it was cancelled.
The cruise director, PJ and his assistant, Emily, stepped in to fill the
gap with only 40 minutes to prepare.
They both have great voices and have been trained in musical theatre. We enjoyed the songs they sang, which were
quite difficult requiring a wide vocal range.
Emily’s version of Piaf’s “Non, Je ne regrette rien” was my favourite.
PJ did a great version of “You’ll never walk alone”.
We sailed around Colombia today on our
way to the Panama Canal. Great
news! We are in for Machu Picchu. We leave the ship on 5th August
and return on 7th August for this overland excursion. There are 80 people doing this. We are very excited.
