Saturday August 17 – At Sea

We sailed very close to Suva today.

There was a Memorial service on board to commemorate the Vietnam veterans and the battle of Long Tan.  The 53rd  anniversary is tomorrow but we will be ashore in Tahiti.

Our clocks went back another hour so we are now on UTC – 10.  UTC is Universal Coordinated Time and is what we would have called Greenwich mean time.

The Captain told us that we have to get air clearance before berthing in Tahiti tomorrow because our berth is very close to the airport runway.

Another excellent repeat performance by our singers and dancers tonight.  This one was called Variations and contained some operatic songs.
