Wednesday August 7 – Lima Peru

They were on time with our wake up call. The one big plus of getting up this early was the opportunity to appreciate the clarity of the night sky at this altitude in Peru. Quite amazing. There were freshly made croissants and orange juice and coffee for us before we left at 4 am.  As we boarded our bus, the hotel gave us a pack of more breakfast to eat on the way.  They were not going to see us go hungry.

Up we went again to Cusco to catch our flight to Lima.  This was a scheduled flight on Latam Airlines Peru. They had a cute little slogan which was broadcast at every opportunity – “Together!” “Further!”. At Lima we were met by a bus to take us to our ship.  It was 10 am when we arrived at the ship and we were meant to leave Lima at 2 pm but did not leave till 5 pm.  This late leaving was because divers had to check the bottom of the Sea Princess for some type of worm that is not allowed in New Zealand waters.  It took longer than they had expected because ships kept arriving and departing nearby and the divers had to leave the water.

We slept when we boarded the ship and then Bill did some business that had to be done while I did more sleeping.
