Today we sailed past Isla de
Coiba. This was a Panamanian penal
colony until 2004 and trees were not chopped down on the island. For this reason we have a virgin rain forest
there now. Evidently the island housed
both the worst criminals and political prisoners. The guards locked themselves in the fort and
the prisoners roamed the island. There
was no escape because crocodiles inhabited the waters around the prison.
Our entertainer tonight was Camila
Andrade She was the Brazilian mezzo
soprano who entertained us a couple of nights ago. Tonight she performed some jazz pieces and
she also sang Summertime which I just loved.
A good evening’s entertainment.
